Getting Started
-
Unbox your OldSchool adapter
Unpack your OldSchool analog phone adapter and set it on a flat surface near your internet router and your phone.
-
Plug in power
Connect the power cable to the adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
-
Connect to your internet
Connect the included blue network cable to the blue port labeled NET. Then plug the other end into an open port on your internet router or modem.
-
Connect your phone
Connect a phone cable from your own analog phone to the green port on the adapter.
-
Wait for the lights
Wait until the Power, Phone, and NET lights on top of the adapter are fully lit.
Not sure what to look for? See the status lights guide below →
-
Listen for a dial tone
Once the lights are on, pick up your analog phone and you should hear a dial tone.
-
Set up parental controls
If you haven't already, log into your ChatterBox account to set approved contacts and parental controls.
-
Make a test call
Place a call to (and from!) an approved contact to confirm inbound and outbound calling work.
You're all set!
Congrats - you're ready to chat.
Note: Some internet service providers may require us to adjust the settings on your phone. If calls aren't working, please contact our support team.
Status Lights
The lights on top of your adapter tell you when it's ready. You'll want to see all three fully lit before you make your first call.
- Power: The adapter is plugged in and turned on.
- Phone: Your analog phone is connected and ready.
- NET: The adapter is connected to your internet.
All three lights on?
Pick up your analog phone - you should hear a dial tone and be ready to make calls.
We set up and tested your adapter before it shipped, but it may take a few minutes to connect with the ChatterBox servers after your first power-on. If the NET light doesn't come on, double-check that the blue cable is plugged into both the NET port and your router.
